One of the political figures that raises my ire is the putrid, putz Rudy Giuliani who was styled as “America’s Mayor” after 9/11. After the attack, when Giuliani behaved as any mayor should, the lionizing media forgot that prior to 9/11, Giuliani was considered a disgrace by most New Yorker’s. This was based on his lack of shame in carrying on an adulterous affair in public and exposing his pre-teen children to it, by making numerous public appearances with his paramour and making publicly disparaging comments about their mother. Like the man who brought him back from his well-deserved obscurity, whom he now analinguizes, Rudy has also has had three marriages with each like Trump’s marked by infidelity. So when Rudy made this observation following Trump’s debate debacle, it stands as an amazing lack of self-awareness, merged with a profound sense of entitlement. Regarding Trump’s treatment of Hillary in the debate Giuliani said:
[Trump is] “too reserved and too gentlemanly to say what I would have said… I sure would have talked about what she did to Monica Lewinsky. The president of the United States, her husband, disgraced this country with what he did in the Oval Office, and she didn’t just stand by him, she attacked Monica Lewinsky. And after being married to Bill Clinton for 20 years, if you didn’t know the moment Monica Lewinsky said that Bill Clinton violated her that she was telling the truth, then you’re too stupid to be president.”
Rudy got his political start as a publicity-seeking Federal Prosecutor, who arrested people on television, convicted them by the publicity and then found most of his convictions overturned by appeals courts out of the media spotlight. As Mayor of New York City he refused to meet with representatives of the Black community; hired Right Wing ideologues to implement “welfare reform”; gave massive tax breaks to major corporations; worked at destroying NYC’s housing laws to benefit campaign contributing landlords; instituted vicious policing policies administered by an unqualified police chief who was later convicted of felony fraud; worked to avoid NYC contracting laws to give City contracts to political supporters; forced his commissioner level civil Servants to contribute and work for his political campaigns or forfeit their jobs. I could go on and on, but I assume I’ve painted a clear picture of this aging fraud unfortunately brought back to political life by Donald Trump. They say that in aging eventually one gets the face that they deserve, Rudy in his dotage looks like a seedy vampire. “America’s Mayor”……indeed.
